Jacobs Well Schools encourage mentor-protégé relationships of trust rather than teacher-learner relationships. Mentoring is a nurturing process where a more experienced person (mentor) serves as a role model and teaches, sponsors, encourages, counsels and befriends, in an ongoing caring relationship, a less skilled or less experienced person (protégé) for the purpose of promoting personal development.Jacobs Well Schools’ leadership is connected to leaders in the superior Finnish Education System and we implement the following elements of that system:
- Qualified teachers and mentors who have a calling as educators;
- Expectancy of our teachers to improve their professional learning to Master’s Degree;
- Personalised, individual attention given to learners;
- Trust relationships between children, teachers and parents;
- Creation of learning environments that foster education as defined above
- Teachers who are held accountable for the progress of the child;
- Learners who are held accountable for learning;
- Less time spent teaching, more time mentoring and facilitating education;
- Student teachers who assist teachers in class.
- Extra-curricular activities include Dance and Soccer
